"We always try to uplift each other because we have a mutual understanding that this type of work could feel like a never-ending battle, so it’s nice to work with people who can empathize"

- You know, what many don’t know about the toll it takes on us who work on sustainability is that we can feel incredibly depressed and stuck at times.

- I don’t doubt it…

- It’s somewhat more emotionally manageable for me since I’m a program manager. It’s even harder for my counterpart who also works in consulting but she manages a portfolio of very tough clients. They’re highly reluctant to change.

- Because they will need to change their entire operational systems and because of the cost it imposes?

- That’s some of the main reasons… yes. But many people don’t realize while upfront investments may be required, there’s a real long-term value creation here as the returns on sustainability efforts will outweigh the initial costs over time, plus they could gain access to more capital and investment opportunities as investors are increasingly prioritizing ESG factors when making investment decisions. I could go on and on, but yeah, it requires a lot of education. Changing mindset isn’t easy.

- I can imagine the toll it takes. I appreciate and love that you guys always try to provide helpful resources and bite-sized educational content, though. Just make sure you guys take care of your mental health too!

- Thank you. Yeah, we always try to uplift each other because we have a mutual understanding that this type of work could feel like a never-ending battle, so it’s nice to work with people who can empathize haha
